| JEF France Campaign Activities During the opening session of the European Convention, numerous Convention members pointed out the crucial role of youth in the debate on the Future of Europe, while others stressed the historical dimension of the process. The “Jeunes Européens France” are indeed convinced that we, young Europeans, have a real part to play in this process.
Therefore, the “Jeunes Européens France” have developed a wide range of activities in order actively to follow the work of the European Convention and to contribute to the debate on the Future of the Union. The strategy of the “Jeunes Européens France” consists of three parts:
1) diffusion of information to JE-France members
- The aim is to inform JE-France members regularly of the Convention's debates. A monthly newsletter will be published, following the monthly frequency of the plenary sessions of the Convention.
- This newsletter will gather information on the Convention, contributions from the Jeunes Européens and "best-of" of the already existing newsletters (JEF, UEF, Crocodile letter, and so on).
2) Information of the population
- The diffusion of information should not be limited to JE-F members! One of the key missions of the Jeunes Européens is the information of the population as well! We are convinced that the result of the Convention will depend also on the communication of its work. It is not acceptable at all that most of the citizens do not even know that a Convention exists!
- More concretely, the Jeunes Européens and their local sections will organise regular distributions of leaflets in public places (street, market places, and so on) in order to inform people and to speak with them about the Future of Europe.
3) Lobbying
- In the short term, a short contribution from Les Jeunes Europeens France will be sent to the Convention, as requested in the first part of the calendar of the Convention dedicated to the opening to the civil society. We will keep you informed of this contribution.
- In the long term, Les Jeunes Europeens France will react and write press releases when we approve or on the contrary disapprove of a decision of the Convention. Moreover, we will maintain a close contact with those of the French members of the Convention who are at the same time members of the French European Movement, on which we depend. Furthermore, we are looking forward to sending a long and very concrete catalogue of proposals on each of the Convention issues to the internet forum. But for this, we have to merge the many texts we already adopted on the different issues and organize the internal debate and approbation, which is, as you all know, neither quick nor easy!
Beyond these activities, all individual initiatives are welcome!
“A nous de jouer"
Amitiés et plus que jamais... salutations européennes!
