| Invitation to Conference of Act4Europe - Civil Society's next steps after the Convention You are cordially invited to participate in an event of the Civil Society Contact Group
17th of June 2003, 9am – 5pm
Scotland House, Round-Point Schuman 6. B-1040 Brussels
TIME TO ACT4EUROPE - Civil Society’s next steps after the Convention. The Civil Society Contact Group brings together the four large NGO families – environment, social, human rights, development – and the ETUC, representing millions of people throughout Europe via their membership. Jointly we aim to ensure that the views and interests of NGOs are heard within the process of shaping Europe’s future framework. With this final event to mark the end of the Convention, the Civil Society Contact Group wants to give an opportunity to NGOs and Unions at the European and national level to assess the outcome of the Convention and its draft constitution before the summit in Thessaloniki. Jointly, we can decide on a forceful and active way forward during the IGC process. We are seeking to invite political representatives to respond to the Benchmarking of the draft constitution by Civil Society. The afternoon session will be internal to the Europe wide members of the Civil Society Contact Group’s components.
Draft Program:
I. The End of the Year Report Card: Members of the Civil Society Contact Group assess the Convention’s Work (including discussion time for NGO input)
II. Where to next? The Intergovernmental Conference: high level representatives respond to Civil Society’s concerns
Lunch
III. Time to act4europe! Internal strategy meeting on NGO lobbying during the IGC
By: ACT4EUROPE, a Campaign of the Civil Society Contact Group
Please register until the 10th June!
