| -The IGC toolkit The Civil Society Contact Group has just published 'The IGC toolkit' as part of its act4europe campaign. The toolkit is available for download at
http://www.act4europe.org/code/en/news.asp?id_events=19.
Published on the eve of the Intergovernmental Conference, which will agree a Constitution for the EU, the toolkit gives civil society activists all the information you need to keep up the pressure on the EU's leaders to deliver a Constitution which matches the expectations of civil society. It includes information on how the IGC will be organised, background on the draft Constitution agreed by the European Convention, tips on lobbying, summaries of the positions taken by the different sectors within the Civil Society Contact Group, and a model lobbying letter calling for an open IGC which gives the Union the legal tools it needs to deliver a Europe based upon rights and principles.
Most important of all, the toolkit containts a comprehensive list of contact details for each country (including the accession states), listing how to contact Foreign Ministers, Permanent Representatives, and national politicians who were members of the European Convention, in order to call for their support over the coming months.
The best way to influence the IGC to deliver the results we want is to campaign at national level, so please make your networks aware of this resource, either by forwarding this message or by publicising the act4europe website : www.act4europe.org which also contains news and updates on the next steps towards the new EU Treaty.
The toolkit is currently only available in English, but other language versions are being prepared, and will shortly be added to the site at the address given above.
