| About the event Dear friends,
JEF Europe is pleased to invite you to participate in its next international youth meeting on the Future of Europe to be held in Athens, Greece
This meeting will take place from Friday 11/04/03 to Sunday 13/04/03. Under the title "EUROPE! – A GENERATION AHEAD", the Youth meeting focuses on evaluating the work of the Convention of the Future of Europe. It draws together young people from across the continent involved in the debate on the Future of Europe in their countries. The goal of this meeting is to discuss the draft European Constitution the Convention has produced so far.
The meeting is one part of the project “EUROPE! – A GENERATION AHEAD”. It is a follow-up to the international youth meeting that took place in the end of November 2002 in Brussels and to the numerous national debates on the Future of Europe organised by the sections of JEF.
This event is meant to be an interactive activity, requesting an active involvement of all participants in their preparation and follow up. Therefore, the main target group is young JEF members involved in the animation of the debate in their countries (be they active at national or local level).
After attending on Friday afternoon an introductory session with key European politicians, the participants will gather in different working groups. On Saturday noon the participants will animate a “European market”, a public action in Athens city centre.
Basis for discussion in the working groups will be the articles of the Constitution the Convention on the Future of Europe has produced. Those articles and further preparation documents will be sent to the participants. Online discussions will also take place before the physical meeting on www.constitutional-convention.net.
