Dear friends,

The time has come for us to welcome all of you to Athens! Here are the basic information you will need after your arrival at the “El. Benizelos Athens International Airport”.

At the airport you will take bus E94 (“AIRPORT ETHNIKI AMINA”) or bus E95 (“AIRPORT-SYNTAGMA”). Any bus among the two mentioned above, makes a stop right outside the “ETHNIKI AMINA” Metro Station. This is where you should get off from the bus.

Buses leave the airport every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day and the ticket costs 2,90 euros. You can buy the ticket right outside the bus stop. We urge you to keep the ticket after you validate it because it is valid for 24 hours after the validation for every metro or bus you take in Athens and also because you can claim it for travel reimbursement. The trip from the airport to “ETHNIKI AMINA” will take you approximately 45 minutes. You only validate the ticket ONCE. You don’t have to do it every time you get into a different kind of transportation.
If you decide to take a taxi from the airport to the Hotel keep in mind that you pay 1,50 euros extra for the airport. The fair will cost you anywhere from 15,00-20,00 euros depending on the traffic. The website of the Athens International Airport is www.aia.gr in case you want to know more.

After you arrive to “ETHNIKI AMINA” you enter the Metro Station and take the train to the “SYNTAGMA” direction (there is only one line anyway, so there is no possibility of mistake). It’s about 7 stations till “SYNTAGMA” station. At “SYNTAGMA” station you change train- within the metro line still – and take the “DAFNI – SEPOLIA” line with direction to SEPOLIA.

You get off at “METAXOURGIO” station (it’s the 3rd stop). You get off the metro through the DELIGIANNI exit. Then you take Deligianni street and turn left to the second street. This is Victoros Hugo str. This way you will arrive at the Hotel Cosmos, 12-15 Victoros Hugo Street. If you want to take a look at the map of the metro visit www.ametro.gr . The metro works from 05:30am until 12:00 midnight.

Marianna Koutandou will be at the Hotel to welcome you. There you will check in, pay your participation fee, present your travel tickets for claiming travel reimbursement and take all the necessary documents from Marianna.

At around 17.00 about 4-5 jeffers will pick you up and take you to the Old Parliament where the official opening will take place.

In case some of you want to go there by themselves earlier: The Old Parliament is at Stadiou str., Kolokotroni Square, very near to the “PANEPISTIMIO” metro station. From the Hotel, you get in the metro at “METAXOURGIO” station and take the line “SEPOLIA-DAFNI” with direction to “DAFNI”. “PANEPISTIMIO” is the 2nd station. There you get out of the metro through the “KORAI” exit. Stadiou str. is the road you will find just in front of you. Take a left turn and after less than 10 minutes walk you arrive at the Old Parliament.

We are sure that you will be very careful during your stay at the Old Parliament, where very valuable art pieces are exposed. As you yourselves will notice it is a beautiful building, which was completed in 1871 and since 1961 hosts the National History Museum of Athens.

On Saturday morning and afternoon the sessions will take place at the University of Athens, 15 Ippokratous str. Someone will be at the Hotel on Saturday morning to direct you to it.

Finally, we know that some of you may want to visit Acropolis after the end of the seminar. Those of you who plan to do so must keep in mind that on Sunday the Acropolis is open until 17.30. All EU students (International Student card necessary) enter for free. Non EU students pay 6,00 euros. But those also from non EU countries CAN get in for free if they study «Classical Studies », « Art », those who are journalists or « ICOM-ICOMOS » members.

We hope you won’t have any problems finding the Hotel. From then on we will be with you to anywhere you have to go for the event.

We are waiting to see you all in Athens, have constructive debates and, of course, some fun also!
