Member of the Upper Franconia district executive of the CSU (since 1995). Vice-chairman of the Bayreuth-St. Georgen branch of the CSU (since 1995). Member of the European affairs committee of the CSU (since 1996). Member of the party committee of the CSU (since 1997).
European affairs officer in Bavaria's representation in Bonn (1989-1993). Member of Commissioner Schmidhuber's private office in Brussels (1993-1995). Section head of the European affairs division in the Bavarian state chancellery in Munich (1995-1999).

Publications:
Publications on European law and politics. Has lectured at the University of Bayreuth. Member of Zukunftsforum Oberfranken (Upper Franconia forum for the future).
