Member of the Chamber of Deputies (1974-1979). State Secretary for Cultural Affairs and Labour (1972-1974). Minister for Finance, Labour and Social Affairs (1979-1984). Prime Minister, Minister for the Treasury and Minister for Culture (1984-1995). Vice-President of the European Parliament (1975-1977). Governor of the World Bank, the IMF and the EBRD (1979-1995).
President of the Museum of Modern Art Foundation (since 1998).
