Jan ZAHRADRIL (Czech Republic)

Shadow foreign minister of Civic Democrats, delegate for the Chamber of Deputies

The well- known „eurosceptic“ studied nuclear physics. He played the guitar with a jazz band while having hair as far as his waist. Foreign policy, according to his words, was always his strong hobby.

He became famous by the Manifest of Czech Eurorealism. There he proposed sronger conection with NAFTA and activ role of the CR within EFTA. EU is for socialistic and byrocratic project where we are forced enter. Civic Democrats are now before elections very populists. They, through Zahradil´s speech, constantly raise the question of national interests nad state sovereignty, despite the fact they have not defined them yet. But they do notrefuse the accession to EU.
Jan Zahradil uses forced words, i. e. aftr Laeken, he condemned the Convention to failure, did not believe it is useful, and now he ran for the delegate.
He will surely assert the reinforcement of inter-govermental feature. He is against the Constitution. But he is not stable and often changes positions. He is likely to act in Convention with regards to home political situation.

You can also read his biography, in german, on the website europa-digital.de
