1982 graduated in history and German philology from University of Vienna and started a job as a librarian.
From 1989 till 1994 was member of the regional assembly of Vorarlberg .
From 1995 till 1999 member of the Austrian Upper House, the „Bundesrat.

From 1988 till 2000 City Chairman of the FPÖ Dornbirn, and District Party Chairman of FPÖ Dornbirn since 1990 and Member of the Provincial Board of FPÖ Vorarlberg since 1990.
Since 1994 was Deputy Chairman of FPÖ Vorarlberg, Chairman of the FPÖ Parliamentary Group in the Bundesrat from 1998 to 1999, and Deputy Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe 1999.
