Born on June the 6th 1946 in Salzburg.
Member of Parliament, Austrian Socialist Party SPÖ
1971 graduated in Law at the University of Vienna and from 1972 till 1977 worked as probation officer in Vienna and Salzburg, finally responsible for finances and organisational issues in the responsible association.
From 1978 to 1979 was an affiliate member at the Ludwig Boltzmann-Institute for Criminal Sociology, later - until 1991 – employed at the Chamber of Labour in Vienna.
In 1991 passed to the Austrian Petrol Company OMV AG.
November 1994 became State Secretary in the Office of the Federal Chancellor.
From April 1995 to January 1997 Federal Minister of the Interior, and later until February 2000 Minister of Science and Traffic.
Currently Caspar Einem is spokesman for European issues of the SPÖ and since May 2001 deputy chairman of the socialist parliamentary group.
