EU tax fiercely resisted in Convention

The European Convention on Friday was scene to a predicted dispute on European tax.

The 105-member body, tasked with drawing up a constitution, was profoundly split on whether the Union should have its 'own resources' the umbrella term covering, among others, direct income tax.
