September 24, 2003 Italian EU presidency works out IGC roadmap The Italian EU Presidency promises that all IGC documents will be accessible on the internet
The Italian EU presidency has prepared eight meetings to be held in the Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) that will give the European Constitution its final shape.
Starting in Rome on 4 October, the EU Heads of State and Government will open the IGC with a general political debate, according to the roadmap, seen by the EUobserver.
The Italians intend to separate the debate into the following eight items:
- Legislative Council
- Rotating Council Presidency
- Minister for Foreign Affairs
- Defence
- Composition of the Commission
- Qualified majority
- Ratification procedures
- Other questions
